This bike route winds entirely across the countryside of the Hyblaean area, walking on this path will be an amazing chance to discover and visit many of the marvellous naturalistic sites which embellish this part of land. We set off at Cava d’Ispica, a 13 km-long canyon still preserving its untainted ecosystem, then we cross an area famous for the presence of the oldest trees in Sicily which leads us to Frigintini, a village clustering farms devoted to high-quality production. The next step is the crossing of another valley, chiselled by Fiumara creek, heading to Scicli where we will finally enjoy some rest and relax in the countryside surrounding Sicily Bike Routes info point.
STAGE 1: Rural Monuments: trees and architecture
Starting point is Cava d’Ispica, itinerary will get you through heart of Modica countryside till the final step in the area of MONUMENTAL TREES, where majesty of carobs and olive trees will charm you.
This charming first stage fits for everyone who wants to experience a bike stroll in this area.
STAGE 2: peace and silence
Second stage is a moderate challenging, rise and fall path. You are going to get further in a harmonious hill area while enjoying the spectacular view of natural places like Tellaro valley and Cava dei Servi with its Belvedere point.
You can either go to San Giacomo or continue in our discovery of the inner countryside of Modica towards Frigintini, little rural hamlet renowned for its olive oil and its charming trattorie, where stopping and eating legumes, scacce and local meat.
STAGE 3: Rurality at Frigintini, baroque in Modica and Scicli
The first part winds along old roads, where you will meet gorgeous farmhouses and the typical carob trees.
The stroll continues in the historic neighbourhoods of the city centre between alleys, little steps and medieval streets.
We leave Modica going on through Fiumara, a wild wooded part of the route will lead you straight to Scicli’s historic centre.
The last, short part of our trip: landscapes of rare, unrivalled beauty, stretching from the sea to countryside will end to the food and wine info point of Sicily Bike Routes.
